Intro
The Lagoon of Grado isn't exactly super-exciting and overwhelming... In fact, it's not at all what we Moryaki usually look for when we dream of a new place for our next tours. It's flat, real waves are rare and let's not even talk about rocks and dramatic capes and cliffs... And yet there is something about this place. Maybe it's just the fact that it's so different from what we're used to. Charming peace and quiet… if you like that, you're right here!
We came here for the first time in September 2020, on the Corona odyssey, looking for a replacement location for a rock hopping camp on the Côte d'Azur. Of course we didn't find what we were looking for here. But we certainly felt that this was a place that would be ideal for a camping trip. A quiet, meditative camping tour, on which there would be a lot to discover: numerous channels in which the tides – up to one meter here – can be felt through the partly quite clear current; many small islands that are home to a number of birds, then again wide open areas of water. And far out, on the outside of the offshore islands that separate the lagoon from the open Adriatic Sea, fine, flat sandy beaches with gentle surf waves that spill out gently in the shallow water. A place of rest. No paddling difficulties. But a lot of open sky and freedom. We plan our overnight stays in campsites and even in a hostel. Bivouacs are not necessary. A lunch stop in a trattoria and a visit to a café in a marina are always possible. We extend the warm season and enjoy a little adventure without adrenaline, but with a lot of well-deserved time out in nature. Relaxed touring-paddling at its best – Moryak can do that too. ;-) -
Arrival

Individual arrival at our meeting point in Aquilaia. We will inform you about the details soon here.
During the first evening, we make ourselves comfortable in our partner Frank's fully equipped camp. As always, we'll cook ourselves a lovely evening meal. -
Day 1–6
For the next six days we will be in and around the lagoon. We explore the natural and man-made channels, cross open water areas and find hidden islets and narrow, half-ruined dams. There are fish, waterfowl and flamingos.
An approximate route is planned, but a lot of improvisation is possible, always bearing in mind the water levels and currents dictated by the tides. This is a discovery tour. It's not about paddling from A to B as quickly as possible. It's about being. About the tranquility of nature.
We want to be back at our starting point by Friday afternoon. -

Group size: Min. three participants, max. six.
The price includes boats, paddles, life jackets, spray decks and, if required, neoprene long johns, shoes, paddling jackets and helmets. Also, make sure you bring your own functional underwear and swimming costume.
This is a camping tour! And this means you need your own camping equipment including a tent, sleeping bag and sleeping mat. And enough waterproof pack sacks for all your luggage (a maximum of two Ikea bags). The exact packing list will be discussed commonly in the group after booking.
The kitty: As always, in Laguna di Grado we will also set up a kitty for meals. In fact, there will actually be two: one for food (€ 100 contribution per person) and one for alcohol (depending on how much you consume, or your best guess at it). Nobody is obliged to pay into the kitty, nor to eat together with us. But cooking and eating together after a strenuous day's paddling is just good fun, and not only does it help to strengthen our tired muscles; it also helps us to create a sense of community. Weather: As you might expect, we can't make any guarantees in terms of weather or sea state. In order to ensure everyone's safety, our guide will decide how to carry out the planned programme locally on a daily basis, and whether to do so. As experienced sea kayakers, we know that Neptune always has the last word.
Accident insurance is the responsibility of the participants. We also strongly recommend that you obtain travel cancellation insurance. Please read our GTC on the topic of cancellation fees, cancellation deadlines etc.
